An ex-French Oak Tasmania Pinot Noir cask matured single malt whisky offers a beautifully layered experience, balancing the Tasmanian malt’s natural richness with the red wine cask’s complexity. It’s a whisky that evolves from first sip to the last drop, offering a sophisticated yet approachable profile that will appeal to both whisky enthusiasts and wine lovers alike. The interplay of fruity sweetness, gentle spice, and soft tannins makes for a truly memorable dram.
With an in-house grain to glass approach, we only source our grains from Tasmania and our Rosevears whisky is milled, mashed, distilled and aged all onsite at Turner Stillhouse.
Matured in ex-French Oak Tasmanian Tasmania Pinot Noir casks, this whisky is richly layered, silky, full-bodied and distinctly Tasmanian.
Colour
A rich, warm amber with hints of ruby and gold, reflecting the influence of the Pinot Noir cask. The colour is deep and inviting, hinting at the whisky’s complexity and depth.
Nose
The nose is vibrant and alluring, with initial notes of dark berries—blackberry, raspberry, and a touch of black cherry—intertwined with the subtle sweetness of stewed fruit. As it opens, nuances of gently toasted oak, and a faint whisper of smoke come through, giving the whisky a beautifully earthy and mature character with an undercurrent of leather and tobacco that round out the nose, offering both warmth and sophistication.
Palate
On the palate, this whisky is soft and silky, with a lush, full-bodied texture that coats the mouth. The first sip is an explosion of rich fruitcake and a warming spice. The Pinot Noir influence becomes more pronounced with its gentle tannic quality, adding a dry yet balanced complexity. There’s a touch of dark chocolate and ruby pinot that lend an elegance to the whisky.
Finish
Long and evolving, with fruit notes lingering and fading into a soft, almost velvety structure. The warm spices continue to develop, leaving traces of dried red fruit, dark chocolate, aged tobacco and a delicate oakiness. The final impression is that of a smooth, rounded whisky, with the cask’s influence lingering subtly on the palate.
